Spanish music for solo violin

The performance of Spanish music has played a prominent role in José Manuel Álvarez Losada's artistic career.

He was a founding member of the "Música en Compostela" Quartet, a group specializing in the performance of music by Spanish composers, along with Agustín León Ara (violin), Enrique Santiago (viola), and Pedro Corostola (cello). This group, which Marçal Cervera later joined as a cellist, performed several premieres of contemporary composers during its existence, as well as carrying out an important task in the recovery and dissemination of Spanish musical heritage.

Furthermore, his specialization and wide knowledge of this repertoire has led him to give monographic concerts and teach masterclasses and seminars in Conservatories and Universities in Spain and abroad, as well as at the "Música en Compostela" International University Music Course (specializing in Spanish music), where he was a violin professor.

This concert explores the main repertoire for solo violin by Spanish composers, along with an explanation of the works to be performed.
